Boost Zendesk CSAT response rates with rating buttons embedded directly in your ticket emails. One click to rate - no survey link, no login, no friction.

Most CSAT surveys fail at the same spot: the click-through. Your customer gets a "how did we do?" email, and rating you requires clicking a link, loading a page, and answering a form. Every step sheds respondents. Typical email survey response rates hover in the single digits to low teens - which means your CSAT score is built on a small, skewed sample dominated by the very happy and the very angry.
The single biggest lever for response rates is reducing effort. The lowest-effort survey possible is one where the rating buttons are in the email itself - and one click is the entire survey.
Klick-Zen lets you build fully functional buttons for Zendesk emails. Each button applies actions to the ticket when clicked - add a tag, set a custom field, insert a comment. Build one button per rating level, place them side by side in your satisfaction email, and every click records the score directly on the ticket.
The customer clicks the face or label that matches their experience. The ticket updates instantly, and they land on a branded "thanks for your feedback" page. Total customer effort: one click.
Simple: Good / Bad (two buttons)
| Button | Actions |
|---|---|
| "😊 Great, thanks!" | Add tag csat_good; set custom field
csat_rating = good |
| "🙁 Not so good" | Add tag csat_bad; set custom field
csat_rating = bad; set status → Open |
Granular: 5-point scale (five buttons)
Create five buttons - "1 – Very dissatisfied" through "5 – Very satisfied" - each
setting a csat_rating custom field to its value and adding a matching
tag (csat_1 … csat_5). Style them as numbers, stars,
or emoji faces; Klick-Zen gives you full control over colors, fonts, and borders.
Then place the buttons in the email that goes out when a ticket is solved - a trigger template, or as part of your solve macro. If you use our one-click ticket close workflow, a clean pattern is: customer clicks "issue resolved" → trigger fires the CSAT email.
This is where embedded CSAT beats a survey tool: the rating lives on the ticket, so your Zendesk triggers can act on it immediately.
csat_bad added - reopen the ticket, set priority High, notify a
team lead, and send the customer: "We're sorry we missed the mark - a senior
agent is reviewing your ticket now."csat_good added - optional thank-you email, or a prompt to
leave a public review.A bad rating stops being a number in a dashboard and becomes a recovery workflow that starts within seconds.
Zendesk's native satisfaction feature is functional but rigid: limited styling, Zendesk-controlled wording and layout, and depending on your configuration the rating flow can involve a click-through to a page. Klick-Zen gives you full control over appearance, wording, scale (2-point, 5-point, or anything else), placement (any trigger, macro, or ad-hoc reply - not just the standard satisfaction email), and follow-up automation. And because ratings are stored as tags and custom fields, they're fully reportable in Zendesk Explore alongside the rest of your ticket data.
It also works on Zendesk plans and configurations where native CSAT isn't available or doesn't fit your workflow.
Two buttons, one trigger email, one recovery trigger - a working one-click CSAT program takes under half an hour to build.
